South African workforce and asset management software enabling company, Acumen Software has raised an undisclosed amount of funding to scale its platform, My Smart City. The My Smart City platform has already been consolidated into the City of Cape Town’s call management system with the intention to connect all municipal systems to enable the automation of information flows from citizens.
In places where the My Smart City platform does not have access to interface with municipal systems, Acumen Software’s dispatch centre team will become the channel between citizens and their municipalities to ensure the issues are logged and tracked rightly. The platform will allow citizens of any city to engage service providers in their cities, whether you have potholes on your road, a power outage or need to find a service provider in your area. My Smart City will allow citizens to engage critical service providers in their cities to access relevant information, log issues, and request services, all in an easy-to-use mobile application.
Joao Zoio, chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder of Acumen Software said: “My Smart City is giving South Africans a voice to see the resolution of service delivery issues and to allow them to view issues and log incidents, prioritize them and connect the right service providers to resolve them. We believe that the platform has the potential to Uber-ise service delivery by putting the power in the hands of the residents who use the platform. In time, the platform will also create jobs for thousands of citizens and private contractors.”
Acumen Software had previously raised an investment of R14,000,000 in a Series A round from Empowerment Capital(Imvelo Ventures (Pty) Ltd) and Andzani (Pty) Ltd for launching My Smart City. Acumen Software was established in 2006 and is made up of industry professionals with extensive experience in consulting, delivery of IT solutions, and developing software for various industries. Acumen Software members have delivered key projects at the Department of Energy, City Power, Eskom in South Africa and other large utilities around the world. Acumen Software is a level 2 BEE (Black Economic Empowered) company. My Smart City was recognised by the UK Department of International Trade as one of the best Smart City solutions out of South Africa in late 2018. My Smart City is available on the Google Play Store, Apple Store, and as a mobile-friendly Web app on the website.
