Serena Williams, through her venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, has committed an unrevealed amount of funding in a rent-reporting fintech Esusu. The amount raised is a part of the startup’s first funding round and was led by Motley Fool Ventures. The venture capital firm invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity, and opportunity.
“Over the past year, Esusu has experienced monumental growth spurred by industry adoption, regulatory tailwinds, and partnerships with the largest property owners and operators in the country. This Series A financing enables Esusu to double down on growth through product innovation, top talent recruitment, and building the most comprehensive financial health platform in the market for low to medium-income families,” said Abbey Wemimo and Samir Goel, Co-CEOs of Esusu.

Esusu, founded in 2016 is a rent reporting platform that captures rental payment data and reports it to credit bureaus to boost credit scores. The company has raised a total of $14.9M in funding from four rounds by 17 investors.
