Techtrend Africa partnered with the UK-based The Connected Awards team to organize the first tech personality award in Nigeria. Africa has always been recognized as the seat of development and achievement. The African continent is endowed with competent and amazing experts that have been creating landmarks in the technological field. The majority view the tech space to be a boring circle that is known to always work. They have faint or outdated knowledge about how the world is gradually becoming digitalized. With our goal, we plan to liberate the less informed by showcasing the lifestyles of the techies.
The organizing body,
The Connected Awards dive into a new niche of appreciating techies through the awards and proposed magazine globally. Techies have been craving for an avenue where they will be applauded. The awards which hosted over 400 individuals across various categories aimed at appreciating the effort of techies in the ecosystem. While announcing the results, Techtrend Africa emphasized the need to spread love and use this medium to promote techies that have put in their best. This statement is in line with their desire to appreciate and impact the African ecosystem. With a vision to bring to the limelight, amazing experts that build groundbreaking technological products and solve our daily problems. We believe the more people know or see “behind the scene”, the more they appreciate technology.
Making the Edition Interesting
To make the Nigerian edition cool, we created a public nomination to receive nominations. We announced this list for the nominees to accept their nominations. The voting process kicked off on December 10th 2021 and rounded up on January 11th 2022. Within a month, The Connected Awards recorded over 500,000 interactions. While speaking with the head of innovation, Oladejo Qazeem, he said the plan is global and the process is gradual. Qazeem emphasized the need to appreciate those that keep creating solutions and getting involved in making the world a better place for us.
There were 45 voting categories and each category was separated based on the nominees’ years of experience and career path. The awardees were chosen through a fair online voting platform and the people with over the minimum quota received a gift pack and certificate from the brand while individuals with the highest votes count per category were awarded.
First Phase of Result
The overall top votes received were from Product Growth experts Kelechi Mbah and Nwosu David followed closely by Quality Assurance Engineers, Jentle Esuong and Ibironke Yekinni. Temitope Onasoga emerged best in the Automation and Robotics Expert category. Ibrahim Adepetu, who ran off with the prize for the C-Level Executive Category with Temidayo Hassan Adekunle and Jonathan Osagie coming close by. In the Exceptional 3D Animator Category, Effiong Samuel James topped the list. Abisola Adeosun was the winner for the exceptional content writer category while Mercy Ogheneruona Irivwieri was the runner-up. For the Exceptional Customer Success Category, Michael Ojima Gloria won the award while Derrick Onyekachi Madumere seconded her.
Second Phase of Result
Olajide Claudius-Akinyemi won the award for the Exceptional Cybersecurity Expert Category while Adabanya Stephanie and Nelson Akpokiniovi Ojovbo had huge votes respectively. Opeyemi Fabiyi was the winner of the Exceptional Data Analyst’s award while Emenike Precious Amarachukwu came very close. In the Exceptional Data Scientist Category, Mojeed Abisiga won the prize followed by Ogundepo Ezekiel Adebayo. The winner in the Exceptional DevOps Expert’s category award was claimed by Iheanacho Samuel Chukwu and Daniel Ademeso seconded him. The best in the Exceptional GIS Analyst’s Category was Celia Achingye Aku. Daniel Makinde Ayomide was the winner in the Exceptional Mobile Developer Category and Esivue Daniel Frank had massive support after him.
Third Phase of Result
For the Exceptional Product Designer’s category, Sani Christopher won with the contestants Ozenua Oluwatobi John, Samuel Irinyemi, Mobolarinwa Fakeyede, Falola Oluwaseyi, Temidayo Aiyedona, Parklins Ifeanyichukwu all excelled with high vote counts. In the Exceptional Product Growth Expert’s category, Kelechi Mbah came first with the participants David Nwosu(the Exceptional Personality of the year), Itohan J. Iyalla, Ovwighose Nyerhovwo Kate all coming close. The Exceptional Product Manager’s award was gotten by Esther Omikunle with Isaac Durotoye, Michael Oragwa, and Toritsemogha Afinotan being the runners up respectively. Ibironke Yekinni won the award for the Exceptional Quality Assurance Expert’s category while Ojo Olajide Gabriel and Oluwabukola Ikoyi were the runners-up. Ademola Ibitayo was the winner of the Exceptional Social Media Manager’s category while Adelola Adegbembo and Oluchi Sylvanus Omai’s votes were immense too. The winner for the Exceptional Software Developer (Backend)’s category was Temitayo Ogunsusi with Abdulrasaq Nasirudeen and Shedrack Ajaegbu being the runners-up.
Fourth Phase of Result
The Exceptional Software Developer (Frontend)’s winner was Abdulhakeem Adams Ojo and the runners-up were: Azemoh Paul David, Okpala Oluchi, and Muhammed Olawale Shuaib. Isaac Sixtus Chizaram was the winner in the category of Exceptional Visual Designer and Ofoegbu Kelechi Ujunwa, Clement Oghenenyore Hugbo, Samson Oluwatoyin Iroko, Onanuga Damilare were the runners-up. Akpen Obinna topped the game in the Game Developer’s category while Odufolakemi Oduwolewa was the medalist in the Investment Analyst Category. Folaranmi Abolade Felix was the master in the IT Support Engineer Category. The champ for the Linkedin Influencer category was Opeloyeru Tope Batly while Emmanuel Nduka and Favour Lucy Aya followed closely. The Marketing Experts Category’s award was won by Nathaniel Ike and Abdulkareem Oladipo followed suit.
Fifth Phase of Result
The Tech Lady of the Year award goes to Ibironke Yekinni while Frances Oparaocha was highly recognized too. Matthew Isikhuemen was the winner of the Promising 3D Animator’s Category while Oluwakayode Ogubremi almost reached him. The winner of the Promising Content Writer’s Category is David Oludotun and we have Mercy Robert and Adejumo Aishat Adewunmi fiercely coming close. The Promising Cybersecurity Expert’s Category was topped by Anna Enuma Ezegbu with Kelvin Oladipo and Dr Emmanuel Olusan being the runners-up. Emanuel Bassey excelled as the winner in the Promising Data Analyst’s category while Justinah Olasehinde seconded him. Justus Ilemobayo went home with the award in the Promising Data Scientist’s category while Adedotun Adedara and Odeajo Israel Olanrewaju excelled as the runners-up.
Sixth Phase of Result
For the Promising DevOps Expert’s Category, Yackson Oluwasesan emerged as the winner and the runners-up are Salaudeen O. Abdulrasaq and Adegbite Seun Samson. In the Promising GIS Analyst’s Category, Serah Akojenu won the prize while Bamidele Clement Oke seconded her. The winner of the Promising Mobile Developer’s award was Animasahun Ibrahim while Chioma Amanda Mmegwa and Taofeek Oduola had huge support as well. The Promising Product Designer and Promising Product Growth Expert awards go to Nmesoma Chukwudi and Susan Ikegwu respectively.
For the Promising Product Manager’s Category, Bolodeoku Olusegun Samuel had the highest votes count while Sefunmi Fasiku, Adeyemo Modupeoluwa, Chinazamekpere Obi, Ajiboye Mercy Oluwatimilehin, and Rosemary Udele were the runners up. In the category of the Promising Quality Assurance Expert, Jentle Emmanuel Esuong came first, then the contestants Udeme Jakunle, Ezenwa Chinenye Thecla, Arinzechi Chetachukwu, Folakunle Olajide, Regina Anyaso, Opeyemi Gbadamosi, Asuquo Patric Eyo, and Fumnanaya Umunna were runners up.
Final Phase of Result
For the Promising Social Media Manager, Ohifeme Tijesu Daniel came first and was closely followed by Oluwatobiloba Oladapo. The Promising Software Developer (Backend)’s category had Joy Oluebube Joel as the winner. The winner of the Promising Software Developer (Frontend)’s category was Udoekpo Stephen and Oluwadamilola Shabi, Uchendu Precious, Abdulrasaq Mustapha, Abhulimen Priscilla, and Obubu Ogechukwuka Andretti followed closely. The winner of the Promising Visual Designer’s category was Praise Diarah, Nnoka Godswill and Sarah Oyebadejo came close by. The Tech HR Personnel award’s champ was Oghenerukevwe Adaware Michelle and Jennifer Omolee was the runner-up. The Tech Trainer of the Year category was led by Arimoro Olayinka Imisioluwa, followed by Mark Oyeniyi.
