Scientifically, females tend to be more intelligent than their male counterparts. Girls outperform boys in writing and reading as a result of their brain and ability to multi-task. Regardless of this, girls are underrepresented in the technological space. From the various statistical reviews, about 12% of the technology-focused companies are led by females while 88% are male. It might seem shocking but the reality is ladies are not getting in the gist. Further research shows about 70-30 Male – Female involvement in the general tech space. We need to reduce the gap.
A team of passionate girls brainstorms together under Techtrend Africa to initiate l ‘Girls Do Tech’ movement. The main reason for this is to increase the number of female genders that participate in tech. With Nigeria growing technology ecosystem, ladies need to see more opportunities they fix into rather than shying away from these new norms. The founding team will keep strategizing on new ways to educate, entertain, inform and inspire more ladies to create an industrial balance in Africa.
The Problem we saw
Most of you believe technology involves coding only but the truth is all sectors can be technical. Irrespective of what your passion and goal are in life, technology makes it easier to achieve. A lot of ladies would rather have a tailoring skill or a hairdressing skill to a tech skill. Even though these are quite amazing skills, you can start thinking to solve problems faced in those occupations. Technology makes life easier and if not for those ideologies, you won’t be reading this.
Ladies are naturally smart, dedicated, and passionate. They just need the right lead to achieve or get a career path. Girls Do Tech plan on taking the responsibility of creating future queens and champions. We aim at fueling the passion for technology in young girls within the age of 13- 30. We believe community means a lot hence we want you to join our growing team. This will open you to multiple opportunities and redirection toward achieving great success.
We aim at building a community of females equipped with knowledge in Tech, not just coding but Technology across. We aim at doing this in a fun environment as all work and no play will make us boring techies. In this community, we would learn, unlearn and have fun, but we can’t do this alone.
