Olaide Olaniyi- How the Dream became a reality
Olaide had a humble beginning in the tech field, he was once naive about how things work but didn’t give up. He embarked on self-training and sought guidance from those he took as mentors. Criticisms were flowing in but he saw it as feedback to becoming better. Now, he don become tech bro. Change is constant when the effort is involved! He bagged a BSc. degree in Geography from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife. Then, he went for a postgraduate diploma in Management at Ajayi Crowther University. Olaniyi continued acquiring industry-related soft skills that will position him for big opportunities.
He also had numerous certifications from top organizations. A Diploma in digital marketing from Team7project and a Chattered Management Certification from the Nigerian Institute of Management. Olaide learned at Udemy, Product School, Coursera, LinkedIn and Sage. His colleagues, team members and the boss never stop endorsing his skills, uniqueness and creativity.
The Journey from a Humble Beginning
As a lover of exploration and adventure, Olaide built his first product, VisaCover, a B2B platform which he successfully managed. This experience gave him a nudge that he is good to go. Olaide then took up the product management role at MainOne, also a B2B platform. It’s the intentional progression for me! Afterwards, he embarked on another journey of discovery by launching a service-focused product with the name “Software Business Solutions Consulting”.
Olaide was able to provide managerial and business-related solutions to his audiences. Using his Product Management experience, he delivered top-notch leadership services in product strategy, development, growth, and marketing at his workplace, Darum. Olaide took a step further and joined Enyata as a Product Manager. He strategically led a creative team of engineers, product owners, UX designers and QA specialists to deliver the best result to their stakeholders. Olaide was happily doing this while also aiming for a more challenging environment. His longing for growth led him outside the shore of Africa to the United Kingdom. Olaide reasons that the gender margin in tech is due to the preference given to each gender concerning job roles. Organizations prefer females to be product managers and males to be developers. He believes the gap is closing up as initiatives are in place to get more females into the technical aspect of tech. Olaide mentions that the focus Web3 and blockchain are receiving is commendable. However, access to good water supply and transportation are two major areas crying for technological impact.

In the course of Olaide’s journey, he built an SMS hub to be used internally by an East African Bank. It was one of the hardest tasks he came across but it ended on a successful note. Consistency, persistence, and self-awareness are the survival skills every techie need. The journey won’t be smooth but the ability to get up and try again after failing is the key. Olaide is lucky to be working in a company that values employers’ well-being. He has time to do other things apart from his work. He prioritizes his tasks in order to create personal family time.
