RecyclePoints, a Nigerian waste recycle venture that deploys the use of incentives as a means of motivating people to recycle their waste. This makes a circular economy and zero waste environment. The venture announced its selection among 36 other startups to join the cohort 3 program of the 100+ Accelerator.
In July 2021, the waste recycling company closed a $200k Pre-Seed from Chivas Ventures. Their recent funding brought their total investment to $230k, previously receiving funds from Mazi Ukonu. Their investors include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the MasterCard Foundation, Chivas Venture and the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

RecylclePoints is a leading recycle and social benefit venture in Lagos state, Nigeria. The company received its membership certificate from the managing director of Lagos state waste management Authority (LAWMA). The mission is to support the state government in ensuring a circular economy and a clean environment. The Company partners with coca-cola through various projects aimed towards incentivizing waste recycling. This project will ensure plastic packaging materials are recovered and reused over and over again.
In July 2021, the venture also announced its partnership with MasterCard Foundation on a project called DORI (Drop Off Recycling Initiative). The project seeks to incorporate women and youth in the sustainability process as they constitute most of the population. In order to rebuild the economy, the project is set to empower 8000 women and youth. It plans to democratize waste recycling in 10 communities in Lagos, Owerri and Port Harcourt. It will also provide unique proprietary waste recycling infrastructure within targeted communities

It was with excitement that the company announced its selection among the 36 startups across the world to join the 100+ Accelerator Cohort 3 program. The 100+ Accelerator program delivers 6 months of remote programming and training to sprout the collaboration and growth of cohort companies. As well as their relationship with partnering companies AB inBev, The Coca-Cola Company, Colgate Palmolive Company and Unilever. The selection also gave the venture a global endorsement and opportunity to showcase the efforts made in Nigeria to facilitate a circular economy.
The program is part of 100+ Accelerator’s mission to help entrepreneurs solve pressing global issues and bring their solutions to market quickly. They believe the partnership is an opportunity to unite so as to have sprout progress for a more sustainable world. Even as each company continues to strive for their independent sustainability goals.
