Rwandan startup, Bafana has launched a platform that enables artists and sports teams to promote their work and enable their fans to support their creative work. Bafana aims to be the new business card of an African artist.
“Our competitive advantage is that we have incorporated local and international payment options such as mobile money, USSD technology, and credit card payment systems. This enables an African fan to send the US$5 to their favourite artist or athlete, whether he or she is in a rural village in Kenya, sitting in the Kigali Convention Centre, or jogging in New York”, said Yves Mugenga to Disrupt Africa.

Bafana was founded in October 2020 by Yves Mugenga and Isaac Murangwa. The origin of the idea dates back to its founders’ college years. Bafana enables the artist to generate eye-catching fan links and landing pages in seconds. They just need to paste in a uniform resource locator (URL) to get started and lead fans to their content. Artists can build, promote by sharing their content with their fans, grow by receive tips from fans all around the world through allowed apps and e-wallet services, and measure by empowering their marketing with data with one easy-to-use dashboard and measure the performance of the links.
