In other to effectively measure growth, success or failure there is a need to gain deep insight into the past, present and future predictions, and all these can only be possible if sufficient and accurate data is readily available, and also just to chip in, this so-called data must be easy to understand and useful to end-users.
You cannot build schools without knowing how many children need to be enrolled. Private investors need to know what resources are available in a given country before putting in their money. A country needs to know what it grows and where to prevent famine. Donors can only know whether their aid is changing lives if they have data.
Given the circumstances, you can imagine how difficult it is for African governments to make data-driven decisions. This situation is often compounded by the lack of an entrenched culture of data use. More often than not it is difficult to ascertain existing programmes effectiveness. Whether available resources are being allocated to address the most urgent and serious development issues.
Why then
Data, therefore, is like a knowledge bank, which gives decision-makers, readers, investors, government etc. insight needed to make positively inclined decisions if followed appropriately. So many organizations have over time ventured into the collection, organization, and analysis of data in Africa in order to take the stress off users of such data which is needed by them to make apt decisions wherever they need them. Amongst such an organization is Stears Data which is located in Nigeria at Lekki Phase 1 and spear-headed by five geniuses, and well it is worthy to note that there exists gender equality in the organization, so my female analysts, researchers all over the globe you can join this amazing organization to help Africa become a more data-led continent.

Now, we know that this amazing firm called Stears Data deals with data obviously, so I am not going to give us an intro-bio because that will suffice as repetition.
But, hold on, let me give a list of the services they offer:
- Research & Analysis (Industrial research & data analysis, Economic Research)
- Data collection (Ground-reference data collection, Surveys & focus groups)
- Training (Data & Research workshops)
- Reports (Economic & Sector reports)
Amazing right, when I saw training too, I was like mehn!!! This is big fish o, and you know now, anything related to solid and true data or research is a good catch, I won’t say more than that.
Also, it is worthy to note that Stears Data have clients across different industries and sectors from state governments to development organisations, which include:
- Endeavor Nigeria (founder: Linda Rottenberg, 1997)
- UK Nigeria Tech HUB (an initiative by the UK government)
- Future Africa (founder: Andela. Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, 2019)
- Evolve credit (founder: Daniel Osineye, 2019)
- Luminate (founder: The Omidyar Group established by philanthropists Pierre and Pam Omidyar, 2008)
I really have to wrap up now but not to worry Stears Data have really done an amazing job by making their brochure downloadable here. You can also subscribe to their insight newspaper if you like to dey read like me. Interestingly both are free, you can also purchase and subscribe to one of their reports at a low cost of $27 per month. Yes now $27 per month, it’s worth it cause the report is a whole lot, it’s not a newspaper. I’m sure decision-makers and analysts will understand sha.
Finally on Stears Data
Before I finally carry my bag ehn, let me use confirm oyinbo here. Let’s be serious. Data is life, you cannot run far as a nation, organization even has a family if you don’t have reference points to always look at in a major stage which will actually help you make informed decisions needed for your sustainability, not even growth right now. Little wonder, most African nations, let me even bring it down to businesses, in most cases, they only succeed for a short while after which they fade off.
Organizations like Stear Data exist to help the government make positive economic decisions with data. Haven looked at Stears Data inventory, I know they can do more to help Africa Countries. They can with knowledge and data-oriented solutions in areas such as births and deaths rate, growth and poverty, taxes and trade. As well as sickness, schooling and safety because these are essentially the economic and social welfare indicators of any nation.
You can read more about Stears Data on here and by the way, I love your UI/UX design.
