People claim the graveyard holds the greatest knowledge, but I believe not in Africa. The black continent has unlimited ideas on the street, waiting for opportunities to actualize them. For founders, there are too many reasons why your ideas can fail in Africa. The black spirit does not stop entrepreneurs from giving up, even if it is to give it a try. The number of failed ideas in Africa is outrageous compared to those that succeed. The real question is WHY?
Why ideas fail

The list is extensive, but rather let me give a real scenario. Many people will put the fault on government policy I am not refuting. Some will say unavailable financial resources. Yes, we can place that at the top too. I recently argued leadership with a friend, and we both agreed it was valid. For most young guys, the older guys will say they have no working experience and connection. I agree with the above points, but I feel we are not speaking about the main issue.
For me, “people” are the reason why tech ideas fail in Africa. We know the number of constraints, but rather than help ourselves build a great idea into reality, people start backstabbing. I really do not know how we want Africa technology to be; like that of developed countries when we have an undeveloped economy. It’s not news that these big countries provide aid for ideas. You see “funny” ideas raise money, but that marvellous idea struggles to raise a penny. Instead of coming together and making ideas work, we kill those ideas with negativities.
Founders breathe too in Africa

For a young entrepreneur with an idea, he just wants to see his conception become a reality. I blame founders for also having their flaws. But you see a designer charge ridiculously for services. I’m not saying they shouldn’t eat, but the more we kill these ideas, the fewer opportunities we create. No place like home abroad might be home too, but we can’t forget about Africa. We leave the county, help develop other economies to be stronger and forget our own home. There will be more ideas surviving if there are people who help with the laydown of agreement.
Our motherland needs help; we are the only ones that can revive this continent. The northern side of Africa has a strong bond with the middle belt and takes that to their advantage. We need more people to help others make that idea a reality. We are stronger together and achieve a lot when we come together. Many potentials are dying, a lot of depression, many people ideas are stolen, and people are leaving this continent with the best ideas. Let us all wake up and offer our services to build that next big thing. Rather than ideas roaming on the street, let them be placed on the global front. Techtrend Africa believes in the possibilities.
